Question: I have applied for a position, what happens next?
Answer:

Your application will be forwarded to the Employers directly. You will receive confirmation of this. Our system will then send you periodic updates on your application.

Question: I would like to receive Jobs by Email, do I need to register with you?
Answer:

No you don't!

Simply click on Jobs by Email tab above. You are welcome to use our system until you find a job that suits. When you receive your Email, simply click on the link and apply within moments.

Alternatively, you may wish to Register as a Candidate. On the left hand side of the screen you will see a clearly marked tab Account Options. Click on My Online CV. On the right hand side you will see the tab marked Settings. This is where you can alter your settings to allow Employers to find you and accept e-mail alerts.

Question: How can I change my settings so that prospective Employers can Headhunt me?
Answer:

Not a problem! Once you have logged in as a Candidate, on the left hand side of the screen you will see a clearly marked tab Account Options. Underneath that, click on My Online CV. On the right hand side you will see the tab marked Settings. This is where you can alter your settings on allowing Employers to find you and accepting e-mail alerts.

Question: I would like help on my career development, can you help?
Answer:

Yes we can, please click on this link to find out about how our partners can assist with CV Help and Interview Assistance. We are continually adding more resources for you.

Question: Can you help me find a job?
Answer:

Yes, please use the Find a Job tab on the top of the page. Enter your search and follow the links to apply. You do not need to register with us but you may find that you want to apply for more than one job. If this is the case, please register by clicking this link. Good luck in your job search!

Question: How do I set up Email alerts?
Answer:

Find the tab at the top of the screen marked Jobs by Email, complete your email address and tick all relevant Occupation boxes that apply to your chosen search. Select your Location, for more options click the right hand link marked Counties. Decide on the Salary levels and Preferred Contract. Use the Keywords option to hone in on your search, either by location or job title. Tick the box to be alerted to similar positions (in real-time) that come in and then click the Submit button. You will receive an e-mail to your specified account with an auto generated password for the system. Use this at any time to quickly log in, change email settings or apply for jobs.

Question: How can I be sure that the job listed are current?
Answer:

We use state of the art cloud computing software to trawl our sister sites for their latest jobs. You will find on each job, the details of how long they have been listed, and if you are logged in, you will find how many applications for each job has been made.

Question: Is this service free to Candidates?
Answer:

Yes, the service is totally free of charge. You may search for jobs, apply for any number of jobs and use our unique real-time Jobs by Email system. You can also upload your CV and you also have the option of having your CV searched by headhunters.

Question: How can I search for jobs with the correct salary
Answer:

Go to the tab section Find a Job and look for the Options button (under Find a Job section). Insert a minimum and/or maximum annual salary in pounds sterling on the advanced search form. Note that benefits and bonuses are ignored, and not all vacancy listings include salary details.

Question: Are my CV and personal information secure?
Answer:

The information in your profile is protected by your password and may only be edited by you. Your profile only becomes part of our accessible candidate database if you make a CV accessible. This means the information in your profile will be made available for searching, viewing over the Internet and downloading by any direct recruiter, employment consultant or other person or organisation who requests CVs matching your profile to be sent to them.

Question: How does keyword searching work? Tips on keyword searching
Answer:

The JobAffair search engine finds all jobs containing ANY of your search terms which match any of the locations and job types (permanent/temporary) you specify. The vacancies containing the most of your search words are listed first. Tips on Keyword searching * Phrases should be enclosed in quotes - eg, "Physiotherapist" Manchester. * Use short words, or parts of words. For example, Graduate will pick up a job containing the words Post Graduate Assistant, whereas Posting will not; consult will find consultancy and consultant . * Locations - you can be very specific allowing you to search for cities or towns, or you can search UK counties or regions.
